Nothing But Good News Radio: Teen Bullying

posted by:

Bullying among our youth is a significant problem–and it is steadily increasing. Many experts fear bullying has become so widespread and common, adults are blinded to its extensive harm.

In the recent “Ask the Children” report, a nationally representative group of 1,001 young people in the fifth through twelfth grades revealed the following staggering facts on bullying:

• Two-thirds were teased or gossiped about in a mean way at least once in the past month
• Over half have teased or gossiped about someone else at least once in the past month
• Almost one third have been bullied at least once in the past month
• Almost one quarter have bullied someone else at least once
• Almost half have been hit, shoved, kicked or tripped at least once
• Nearly 20 percent have been hurt physically five times or more

Today’s guest, Gay Lynn Williamson-Grigas, is an author, psychologist, educator and mother of five children. Gay Lynn has a Masters degree in Psychology and member of the American Psychological Association since 1992. Her most recent manual and training system Trigger-Proof Your Way To Success: 12 Tools to Keep Your Cool and Confidence, addresses the issue of bullying in school, at work, and teaches people of all ages how to successfully hold on to their personal power and keep their peace of mind.

Nothing But Good News Radio: For the Love of a Child

posted by:

Today on Nothing But Good News Radio, Kandee G welcomes special guests, William Grear and Evelyn Polk.
For some children and youth, the care and support of a loving family is just a distant dream, something to hope for someday. Kids are most successful when they live in a family setting and in the communities they call home until they can be reunited with their own family or with a relative.

Today’s guests have opened their hearts to help these unfortunate children find homes, love and the support they need.

William Grear works with the National Youth Advocate Program. For those who choose to open their homes to children in need, William is there to get them ready.

The NYAP strongly believes that the primary focus must be holistically placed on preserving and unifying families and strengthening the communities they call home.

Evelyn Polk is the founder of For A Child’s H.E.A.R.T., Inc.; a non-profit organization which provides counseling and support services to children separated from their biological parents, and their caregivers. Their goals are to increase the rate of emotionally healthy and successful home placements for older children, children of color, and their caregivers;

To increase the numbers of emotionally-sensitive lay persons within the community; and

To increase the clinical and cultural awareness of professionals who work with children in out-of-home care and their caregivers.

Join Kandee G and her amazing guests and learn how you can help make a difference in a child’s life.

Bobby Rodriguez is truly a “Renaissance man.” In addition to creating and producing the Florida Renaissance Festival, Bobby has been an award-winning actor, musician, singer, event and theatrical producer and director for more than 30 years. The Bobby Rodriguez Orchestra, an 18-piece big band, is a fixture on the South Florida music scene performing in front of thousands. He has acted in television hits such as “Miami Vice” and “21 Jump Street” and also on stage, in movies, and on radio and TV commercials.

Not satisfied with limiting his artistic outlets to these performing acts, in 1981, Bobby formed Bobby Rodriguez Productions, Inc. (BRP) a full-service entertainment and event company with a specialization in festivals.

Julia Dale is 10 years old. Some of her most recent theater performances have been Madeline’s Christmas (as Madeline) and Annie (as Annie).
